Slashdot-proof your server with FreeCache
FreeChache is a kind of Ad-Hoc-amai -- a service that caches high-demand
content on high-availability servers. The Internet Archive's FreeCache
service has an automated tool that integrates with Apache to automatically
cache and redirect visitors attempting to download large, popular files --
using this can slashdot-proof your server.

I thought this might be interesting in relation to the perl project Mike
Heckman was talking about. Maybe as a start, a group of 6 servers could ask
each other to help out serving popular content?

Here's the perl script they're using:

P.S.-Note to Dave Cash, maybe you could mention FreeCache to Anna's step-mom
re: sharing her quicktime movie without eating all her bandwidth.
