Hey, all.

Our November meeting is this Thursday at 8:00 in Withers 402A.  Please 
note that we'll be starting half an hour later than usual (some professor 
is using the room for a midterm until 8:00).  John Borwick will describe 
why you might want to learn Perl as well as giving a brief introduction to 
the major features of the language.  This particular lecture is aimed at 
those who are thinking about learning Perl or have just started using it.  
This is a good chance to introduce your friends to Perl, so bring them out 
Thursday!

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at North Carolina
State University seeks a Web Developer to automate processes in the 
Graduate Office.  Project goals include:

?creation of an in-house evaluation system for applicants

?tracking of student progress

?creation of interface for staff

The prevailing candidate will be well-versed in database design, flow
analysis and user interfaces.  Advanced skills in HTML, PHP and MySQL 
are required. Ability to work both as part of a team and independently 
as needed.

Position is a time-limited contract for six months.  Work is on-site.
Hours: 8 am - 5 pm, Monday through Friday.

given to those whom provide portfolios of previous work.

Happy Thanksgiving, everybody.

And thanks to John Borwick for his short introduction to Perl at the last 
meeting.  It went really well, and hopefully we'll some of those faces at 
future meetings.

Since the end of the semester is looming, the December 5th meeting (7:30 in 
Withers 420A, as usual) will be a movie night.  Feel free to come out and 
relax a little before exams.  You're welcome to bring friends as well, 
since the room is pretty big.  If there are any movies you'd like to 
particularly see, let me know.
