From al at shadowed.net Sun Jan 6 13:29:03 2002 From: al at shadowed.net (Allison Randal) Date: Thu Aug 5 00:07:52 2004 Subject: a book I want Message-ID: <20020106192903.GE964@shadowed.net> So, I'm sure O'Reilly or someone has thought of this (or something similar). I'm just curious who. I really want this book. Perl 6 Primer Part one is written for people who are learning perl for the first time on 6. Basically it's something we could use in perl-class. Certainly no competition for llama or camel, just an intro. Part two is for people who already know perl and want a quick jump start/reference. This is for my co-workers, people who have taken the perl class 4 times, etc. It's a shortish book, under Perl in a Nutshell and over the Perl 5 Pocket Reference. I want it to be short enough that people don't feel like they'll never get through it. It should be unintimidating but informative. The Apocalypses and Exegeses are a bit much for the average Perl user. The thing that bothers me is that I seem to encounter more fear and disbelief than enthusiasm whenever I get in a conversation about Perl 6. If possible, the book should be released a few months before the full production version of Perl 6, with a revision released on a fairly short schedule to catch up with all the changes that are sure to happen in the first months. Has anyone heard of such a creature, or rumors of such a creature? al --- To unsubscribe from this list, send an email to majordomo@hfb.pm.org with the following body: unsubscribe nashville-pm-list From al at shadowed.net Tue Jan 8 09:27:10 2002 From: al at shadowed.net (Allison Randal) Date: Thu Aug 5 00:07:52 2004 Subject: a book I want In-Reply-To: <20020106192903.GE964@shadowed.net> References: <20020106192903.GE964@shadowed.net> Message-ID: <20020108152710.GB7797@shadowed.net> On Sun, Jan 06, 2002 at 01:29:03PM -0600, Allison Randal wrote: > So, I'm sure O'Reilly or someone has thought of this (or something > similar). Here's a direct link: http://nlug.org/locations/sprint/ The meeting time is 6:30. A few extra bits of info: - The paid parking garage is free if you get it endorsed by Borders. - Because of security restrictions in the building, the elevators are locked down after 6 pm. Peter will come down to let people in at 6:30, 6:45, 7:00, 7:30 and 8:00. - If you come between 5 and 6 you can go straight up to the 8th floor without restrictions. Peter says we have free run of their coffee bar "Centennial Perk", so I'll show up at 5:30 and hang out. See you there! -al --- To unsubscribe from this list, send an email to majordomo@hfb.pm.org with the following body: unsubscribe nashville-pm-list
