From allison at netcentral.net Thu Nov 8 17:24:29 2001 From: allison at netcentral.net (Allison Randal) Date: Thu Aug 5 00:07:51 2004 Subject: a line on some space, making up some dates In-Reply-To: Message-ID: Chaney gave us the tip-off on some really nice meeting space in the SprinPCS offices on West End right across from Centennial Park (it's too small for nlug, but would be perfect for a group of 20 or so with space for up to 40 with extra chairs). I met with the guy today and he was really positive. He wants the dates of future meetings so he can get them approved. So, I'm making up tentative dates. Comments? Suggestions? ------------------------------------------------------------- 11/20/01 - Informal gathering: check out the space (if we get it by then), bring interesting bits of perl code to share, questions to discuss. One possible topic: Larry's latest Apocalypse / Damian's latest Exegesis. 01/15/02 - SQL-Ledger with Jason Laster 03/19/02 - TBA 05/21/02 - TBA 06/04/02 - First Perl Class (we may need a larger space temporarily for the first class or two) Perl Class continues weekly for 10 weeks (with possible interruptions for the probable teacher to run off to two Perl conferences that will most likely occur mid-June and late-July). Last class: 08/06/02 or 08/20/02. 09/17/02 - TBA (Perl Mongers resumes post-class) 11/19/02 - TBA ------------------------------------------------------------- I know, it's way too far in advance to really have any idea what's going to be happening on most of these dates. Just call it a loose guide. al -- "Evolution has come to its senses and realized all the fancy bells and whistles just take up space." -- William Browning Spencer, "Resume With Monsters" --- To unsubscribe from this list, send an email to majordomo@hfb.pm.org with the following body: unsubscribe nashville-pm-list From allison at netcentral.net Mon Nov 12 12:06:33 2001 From: allison at netcentral.net (Allison Randal) Date: Thu Aug 5 00:07:51 2004 Subject: a line on some space In-Reply-To: Message-ID: Looks like we've got the space, at least for the first few meetings. One obstacle: building security would like us out by about 8pm. Would anyone who wants to come to Perl Mongers be unable to come at 6:30 instead of 7? There are several locations within walking distance with alcohol/food in various forms (one right downstairs), so there's good motivation to adjourn to another location right after meetings. Also, our contact at SprintPCS, Peter, says it's quite likely we could get permission to stay later after we've been using the space several months and haven't trashed the place. :) So by having meetings there for the next few months we might be opening the doors for a good perl-class space. al -- "Evolution has come to its senses and realized all the fancy bells and whistles just take up space." -- William Browning Spencer, "Resume With Monsters" --- To unsubscribe from this list, send an email to majordomo@hfb.pm.org with the following body: unsubscribe nashville-pm-list From allison at netcentral.net Mon Nov 19 22:01:03 2001 From: allison at netcentral.net (Allison Randal) Date: Thu Aug 5 00:07:51 2004 Subject: Perl Mongers reminder In-Reply-To: Message-ID: Thanks to Howard for reminding me to remind everybody. Perl Mongers meeting, tomorrow night (Tuesday, Nov. 20) 6:30 - 8:00. No formal topic this time, but bring any perl questions, or interesting bits of code. We'll hang out for an hour or so and then probably go get some food nearby. The new space is in the SprintPCS offices on the 8th floor of 2525 West End Ave., the building right across from Centennial Park (in the same building as Borders). Peter's quote on parking: "You can park in front of the building for 2 hours (and I've parked there for much more extended hours without worry.) You can also park across the street at Centennial Park for free." One glitch, the front doors and elevators are locked at 5pm, so Peter will have to do some ferrying. We'll try to let in as many people as possible at 6:30 and leave instructions at the door for everybody else. Sounds kind of akward, but we'll give it a try.
