My own 2 cents:

If the security bug is already present in released perl versions (5.12, 
5.14, etc.) then it shouldn't block the 5.16 release but it should be 
fixed as soon as possible and backported appropriately. If it's an 
introduced issue in the 5.16 cycle then they should delay release.

... which, of course, is exactly what the Perl 5 Porters do in such 
cases.  We will backport security fixes to *supported* versions of Perl. 
  Once 5.16 is released, 5.14 and 5.16 will be the supported versions. 
(That doesn't preclude someone other than p5p backporting security fixes 
to older versions of Perl.)

On the one hand, I congratulate the author of that article for having 
the patience to wade through a very long discussion on 
perl.perl5.porters.  On the other hand, he's a tad alarmist when he 
suggests that publicly referring to the existence of security bugs in a 
software application increases the insecurity of that application 
because it attracts more attention from crackers.  If that were the 
case, then any and all public discussion of any security problems in any 
software applications ought to be banned.

I went with MooseX::App::Cmd for the Moose learning although 
CLI::Framework (CLIF) seems definitely the more powerful one..

As discussed in the last meeting, I had something pushed on github but 
not of any value.. Well, now it's of "little" value: it can push a Perl 
Weekly[1] through an instapaper account to your kindle.

Ideally I would like to do the 'instapaper' text (and relevant image) 
grinding myself but I have another project that needs attention right 
now (shameless plug: Hacker Jeopardy @ HackUS 2012[2]) so I won't touch 
it for a month or two since I get what I was looking for.

The Moose learning was awesome! I love that stuff although I barely used 
it. ;)

The frame that App::Cmd provides needs some effort learning but I also 
see a lot of benefit in the boiler plate removal. That said, I spent 
some time in the debugger tracing problems blaming issues on Moose 
although it turned out that it was a user problem.. Well, to my defense, 
they don't talk too much into Unit testing in the App::Cmd 
documentation.. So I spent some time thinking it was a MooseX::App::Cmd 
to App::Cmd problem instead of me misusing the framework trying to 
test.. In any case, I traced it and fixed it, it was my fault using new 
instead of prepare.

That learning was awesome! I can't wait to learn more by reading the 
Perl Weekly on my kindle ;)

Feel free to check out the code and rant, me getting better depends on 
you doing so! :)

OVH a vu le jour en France il y a un peu plus de 10 ans. Elle veut
s'implanter en AdN. Elle a ouvert ses bureaux OVH Canada il y a quelques
mois à peine, et recherche des développeurs Perl.
Je passe le mot à montreal-pm, car OVH n'est pas bien connu en AdN, mais à
pignon sur rue en Europe.
À vous de voir de par vous-même en les rencontrant. Le fondateur d'OVH est
venu s'installer à Montréal pour être sûr que tout sera fait pour réussir
cette implantation.

I've read the previous edition, not the current one. It's definitely
worth the money (free). It's what I've recommended to read first for new
hires here as it is concise and to the point covering from basic perl
data types up to OO.

J'ai lu une bonne partie de Higher Order Perl, et c'est extrêmement
enrichissant. Par exemple, mjd explore plein de techniques qu'on
retrouve habituellement dans la programmation fonctionnelle. Un jour,
j'ai l'intention de m'attaquer à la partie que je n'ai pas encore
lue/comprise. Très recommandé.
