If you think about it a minute, it doesn't really make any sense to type
'http://domain.tld' into your browser anyway. It's a DOMAIN, not a machine
with an IP address. For years people have been adding A records for domains,
but this practice is more due to laziness on the part of Joe Random AOL User
wanting to type domain.com into his browser, than due to any adherence to the
RFCs.
