Do you mean > 250?
If not, $truncated_text .= '...' unless length($text) < 250; # is all
you need
You can also do
my ($truncated_text) = $text =~ m/(.{0, 250}\b)/s;

Set dates just help people plan better for them and always be prepared
so no one's ever confused, but I agree it has to be cool ;)
