This message is really for our web page (http://LA.pm.org). I'm still working on the page and need a few things. For one thing we need links. I'll put all of your homepages up in the links section (unless you don't want it there) but we also need other links. Also, if you have any programs you're proud of or not proud of (in perl, preferrably :) send 'em over and I'll put those in the 'Programs' section. Main thing now is a logo :) I'm making different ones and have gotten a few from other people also. I'm hoping that some of you are able to make nice images and may want to help make a logo for LA.pm.org. If you can, that'd be great. I'll post everything sent to me (or to the list) up at http://LA.pm.org/logos/ and I'll include initals in the image name. I'll put the few I have in there soon too. You can consider this a contest if you wish, but I'm also thinking of putting a different logo up per page which would be neat. Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow! Comments, questions, logos? Thanks. (Don't forget to put 'LA.pm: ' in front of all messages [until a filter or something is setup], just so I know which 'HAPPY NEW YEAR' email is important and which isn't.) -Sam From jeffsu at jeffsu.com Fri Jul 7 18:19:57 2000 From: jeffsu at jeffsu.com (Jeff Su) Date: Wed Aug 4 00:01:53 2004 Subject: Tomorrow In-Reply-To: <3965EB41.A79EABF8@LucidX.com> Message-ID: All, Man, I sure wish I could be there. (cheap transportation and stuff) Message-ID: <3968BEBE.D84A6868@LucidX.com> Who's up for some Defcon? A few of us were talking about it today in #LA.pm (on Efnet) and Jeff Yoak brought up vegasnow.com...Apperently for $55 (a person) you can get to defcon, and $55 back. Good thing is it's all through vans, and we can get a great deal if we get the entire van ($720 round trip). Also: "Take $20 off the roundtrip fare for each additional passenger departing from the same location." This'll save even more if we get together before leaving. So this was my thoughts: On Thursday (AFTER 11 AM!) we can all meet somewhere (if we all take a bus or something) for (?:l|br)unch, probably, and have a van arranged to pick us all up there. Then we get on our way to Las Vegas...Thursday we can 'see the sites' and things like that. And then leave ASAP after defcon (when it ends on Sunday) and try to get back to LA before Monday, this would be good so it doesn't interupt any more work/school :) We can stay till sometime Monday but it would be bad to stay any time after Monday. Now, if we get enough people (at least 7) we can get the entire van for for less than $110 total (about $103 if 7 people, $90 with 8, $80 with 9...), round trip. Defcon is Friday-Sunday (July 28th-30th). We already have a few people willing to come...so please email the list, or directly to me if you wish, if you are willing to come! Also tell us what kind of accomodations you'll need for Las Vegas, because I can find some hotels and other things and see who wants to pair up or anything. Please email the list asap since there's not much time left :) -Sam From scott at virtualis.com Sun Jul 9 21:41:05 2000 From: scott at virtualis.com (Scott Francis) Date: Wed Aug 4 00:01:53 2004 Subject: LA.pm: Defcon! This is no doubt my fault as Samy got his 411 from me while I was trying not to type from wrist pain. The cost for the charter is $720 for the round trip. That's the best price and assumes that we will gather in one place before being picked up. If we want to be picked up in different places, we have to add $10 per additional pickup. It also turns out, and I didn't know this when I spoke on the channel earlier, that our schedule isn't available except by charter. The owner had planned to have no service for one of those days and is only interested in changing that plan for a charter. Finally, leaving Thursday is a little tough for me. I don't really have any vacation time. I was thinking of a shorter Friday - Sunday trip. I can be convinced, but if others are sketchy about going on Thursday as well, perhaps a Friday departure should be considered. (If everyone who wants to go wants to leave on Thursday, I'll just have to push at work. :-) So speak up all! Who's into it?
