Hello,

Infinity Interactive (the Moose cabal, among other things) is putting together an east coast training tour for 2013. One day, intensive hands-on training on Modern Perl, Moose, etc, with the guys who wrote the actual code.

I'm bummed out that the current plan is east coast big city only. I'd love to see the tour also come to the midwest!

Do you or your company have a Perl training budget for 2013? If we can get II folks sponsored in your city then I believe they also do low cost (free?) presentations to the local Perl Monger group.

If you deem this appropriate could you please forward to your mailing list? I'm fishing for interest.

I'd love to get these guys out here to the midwest, especially for folks that don't make it out to YAPC and other Perl events.

(BTW, if you're not familiar with Infinity, our site at http://iinteractive.github.com/ summarizes a lot of the Open Source/Free Software work we've done and our other community contributions.)

Nope. It's pretty flexible so far on our end, depending on the subject(s) of interest and our available resources. 

One of the public events will co-incide with YAPC::NA, if any KC folks are heading down to Austin in June.

I'm trying to pull together a panel to discuss telecommuting at YAPC:
benefits, problems, communication, organization, etc. I've given a talk
about this a couple of times in the past, but I thought this time I'd see
if I could pull together 3-5 telecommuters to help provide some
perspectives on the practice.

Are you a telecommuter? Would you be interested in participating in such a
discussion panel? Do you know another person who telecommutes, willing and
able to attend YAPC, and might be interested in participating? I'm hoping
to get a panel with a variety of employment types (self-employed,
contractor, FTE), work styles (from home, from a telework office, part time
at home part time at office), and roles (developer, supervisor, tech
manager/exec, owner).

If you'd like to participate, please let me know with a short bio/brief
description your telecommuting experience. If you know someone else, please
pass this on to them. In any case, thanks for listening and considering.

I worked at plainblack last year -- host of 2012 YAPC -- a telecommute perl
shop. They use skype a lot. I'd be happy to be a telecommuting member of a
telecommuting panel -- that would be intrinsically amusing. Where is this

I'm rarely able to make it (it is been a couple years since the last time I
attended), but I'd have little excuse not to go if I was free and the
meeting was there. I live within a mile of Fox & Hound, and I currently
work from home.

i'm thinking of going non-compliant and doing the exercises in Motion
rather than C++

(www.cppgm.org) released further news today about the C++
Grandmaster Certification, the free massively open online
course (MOOC) where you build your own C++ compiler,
standard library and toolchain for Linux x86-64.

It was reported that 10,000 programmers have enrolled in
the course including people from Intel[*], Stanford[*],
Google[*], MIT[*], IEEE[*], Harvard[*], and many other
companies and educational institutions from all over the
world.

CPPGM has been inundated with requests for more information
about the content of the course, so Programming Assignment 1
has been released as a public preview for free anonymous
download and review.

Programming Assignment 1 asks the participant to implement
the first three phases of translation as described in clause
2 of the C++ Standard (the preprocessors tokenizer).
