We often skip the December meeting if folks are busy with the holidays. But, I'd love to get together and chat about what you guys have been up to, especially since we missed meeting in November. Would anyone like to get together tomorrow evening at 7pm at Barley's in Shawnee? -Andy From stephenclouse at gmail.com Mon Dec 12 16:02:41 2011 From: stephenclouse at gmail.com (Stephen Clouse) Date: Mon, 12 Dec 2011 18:02:41 -0600 Subject: [Kc] December meeting In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: If anyone else is down, I'll show. -- Stephen Clouse -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... And I'm doing job search. So attending a networking event makes sense; count me in. Anyone else coming from the Missouri side? I'm trying to keep driving to a minimum as I don't know exactly how many miles the current hoopdi has left before the wubbling wheel falls off. In case you missed it, we chatted about * using perlbrew in cronjobs - watch out for what user is running them and what that user's environment looks like * what's the state of the art for shipping an application that needs to be able to be stand-alone and also make use of the network if available? * Who is hiring, and where are good places to work? (they're not always the same) * building local CPAN mirrors using minicpan and other tools * lots of other stuff about KC and perl and tech stuff in general. Thanks to those who came out. I look forward to seeing you guys and some new faces in January! -Andy From amoore at mooresystems.com Wed Dec 14 09:16:20 2011 From: amoore at mooresystems.com (Andrew Moore) Date: Wed, 14 Dec 2011 11:16:20 -0600 Subject: [Kc] open source Kansas City user group Message-ID: I forgot to mention openkc.com last night. The open source KC user group is a growing group of mostly programmers using PHP, python, and perl here in KC. They have regular meetings, often lunches downtown. I went this month and had a great time meeting some like-minded local folks. It sounds like they're planning a wider variety of meetings, and I think some of us perl programmers would enjoy getting involved in this group. I hope to get to see some of you all at one of openKC's meetings soon. -Andy From davidnicol at gmail.com Wed Dec 14 09:53:00 2011 From: davidnicol at gmail.com (David Nicol) Date: Wed, 14 Dec 2011 11:53:00 -0600 Subject: [Kc] open source Kansas City user group In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: That sounds like a better platform for launching philanthropic initiatives that our little drinking club.
