If I go I plan on driving. I haven't booked hotels or anything yet though.

It seems that I may have caused some questions about early registration
deadlines. ?Originally the early bird registration was published as being
5/1 but due to the payment processing system being down we were flexible
and extended to end of day 5/14. ?An email was sent to everyone letting
them know of this extension and an email was sent out last evening
reminding everyone that the early registration was ending soon. ?I was not
explicit enough in my wording and it has cause a lot of confusion.

So here is what is happening.

Saturday May 15th, 2010 at Midnight EST or Sunday May 16th, 2010 at
04:00:00 UTC the fee for YAPC will change from $90 USD to $100 USD.

I hope that this resolves all concerns.

telecommuting. I'm doing some research to collect material to (hopefully)
make my talk better. If you want to help, here's the deal:

I'm giving a talk at YAPC 2010 on telecommuting as a software developer. For
the talk to be successful, I'm going to need more than just my own
experience to pull from. If you are a telecommuter and have a moment, I
would appreciate your help in filling out this survey.

The goal of the talk is two-fold:

1. I want to explain the benefits and risks of telecommuting as a Perl
developer.
2. I want to provide some practical tips to help fellow telecommuters.

I want the format to be oriented towards telling a number of stories about
telecommuters with practical advice interspersed.

Please answer the parts you want and ignore the rest. It's long and I don't
expect everyone to answer. This is more about sparking than being scientific
or complete.

You bet! We get together on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at Barley's
in Shawnee. We typically grab a couple of the high-top tables in the
back.

I hear that some groups seem to have some technical meetings and some
social ones. We tend to have pretty much what they would call social
meetings. We sit around and share tales of recent perl or other
technical projects, and chat about any employment opportunities around
town. We don't talk all about perl, and sometimes it almost never
comes up at all, so there's a range of topics to interest all kinds of
folks.

It looks like June 8th is the next 2nd Tuesday, so I hope to see you
there if you're interested!
