[Kc] why "mongers?"

This came up in St. Louis a couple of years ago (on perl discuss forum), but
no one mentioned this origin.

See also "warmonger", "peacemonger" (clearly derived from ironmonger).

I was aware of this origin, but never got around to mentioning it.
