With Al Tobey's move to San Diego, I became the new President of GR Perl Mongers. I've been trying unsuccessfully for several weeks to send e-mail to the mailing lists. All my messages have been returned - I even tried signing up with a brand new email address. Noone knows the list admin password and getting support has been difficult. But, it seems to be working, so I'm trying again. I would like to hold a "planning lunch" this month to share ideas for upcoming meetings. We do have a few good speakers that have agreed to come, we just need to decide which topics we want, when and make the arrangements. We also have several new books piling up we need to give away. I think we should keep this month's meeting at the usual time: Friday May 25 11:30 - 1:00 Priority Health (Room TBD) I would agree that we should mix up the meeting times so that those who can't make Friday lunches can participate. Thanks for the suggestion. More info to follow. The May Perlmongers meeting will take place next Friday at Priority Health. We will be holding a "planning lunch" where we will be going over options for upcoming meetings. If you are interested in helping select future events, venues or dates, bring your ideas and suggestions (and appetite) to Priority Health next Friday: Friday, May 25 @ 11:30AM - 1:00PM Priority Health Conference Center 3111 Leonard St NE - Grand Rapids MI 49525 (Just west of intersection of Leonard & E. But since it's been almost 24 hours with no responses (that i've seen), I can't resist. The quick explanation is that a hyphen can have a special meaning inside character class brackets. If it is placed in a position where there is a character before and after it, it represents a range between those two characters, and not interpreted literally. To have perl match a hyphen inside of a character class definition, the only two valid positions are at the beginning or at the end of the character set.
