Would anyone use it? I don't think I would. I tried using IRC a little while ago, and found that I alternated between spending all my time watching IRC and not keeping up with it at all, because other things were taking priority. (Maybe I need to work on my skim-reading skills or something.) But, that said, I'm broadly in favour of it -- I know lots of people like IRC. And, who knows, if there were an active Edinburgh.pm channel, maybe I'd try IRC again. -- Aaron Crane From struan at exo.org.uk Thu Nov 8 06:44:06 2007 From: struan at exo.org.uk (Struan Donald) Date: Thu, 8 Nov 2007 14:44:06 +0000 Subject: [Edinburgh-pm] #edinburgh.pm In-Reply-To: <20071108131739.GB7650@aaroncrane.co.uk> References: <473306C6.7080802@yahoo.co.uk> <20071108131739.GB7650@aaroncrane.co.uk> Message-ID: <20071108144406.GJ18013@bollo.hoodee.co.uk> * at 08/11 13:17 +0000 Aaron Crane said: > I don't think I would. I found the same with large channels like #london.pm but smaller ones I've used in the past have not been as bad simply becuase there isn't such a constant stream of chat. Not to denigrate edinburgh.pm but I suspect it would tend more towards the small and possibly be less alarming. > But, that said, I'm broadly in favour of it -- I know lots of people > like IRC. Actually, I originally visited irc.perl.org because what I *really* need is a quick and reliable oracle on a wide range of technical subjects including but not limited to Perl. When of course, an IRC channel is a barrel of gibbering nonsequiturs on crack. What was I thinking? FWIW, ir on #edinburgh.pm now l8r.kthxbye From nickwoolley at yahoo.co.uk Fri Nov 9 08:20:46 2007 From: nickwoolley at yahoo.co.uk (Nick Woolley) Date: Fri, 09 Nov 2007 16:20:46 +0000 Subject: [Edinburgh-pm] Fwd: Free Agile Session in Edinburgh ft.
