I tried to hand things off and no one stepped up. I nominated frew to be the leader, but he declined. Either way, I really want to give up my leadershipness because I get all of the admin mail spam from the mailing list and I've somehow forgotten the password. So for every day for the past 15+ months, I've gotten mail about mail in the needs-approval queue. Long time lurker here, but Jerry has my vote! BTW, I appreciate the "targeted" headhunter emails that are Perl-specific. The volume is rather low, and I like the warm fuzzy feeling I get to know that my Perl skills are still valued by someone. I'm working on it, my fellow mongers, getting things set up for a new server and a renewed push to really make something of our SIG. I'll be co-chairing it with fellow monger and makerspace champion John Fields. Right now it's in planning stages, but I think we'll be setting up a mojolicious foundation for the new website, open to code contributions, on one of several servers I run. I'll set up a git repository for the codebase for those who should like to contribute. I'll organize meetings, although I think we should strive for more central locations to the DFW area. Meeting in Plano isn't exactly central by any stretch. We can move meetings around from location to location, so long as the meeting place is agreeable to the group. More news forthcoming. -- Tommy Butler $ perl -MMIME::Base64 -e 'print decode_base64 "dG9tbXlAYnV0bGVyLnNoCg=="' On 10/27/2012 12:05 PM, Brian Koontz wrote: > On Sat, Oct 27, 2012 at 11:11:11AM -0500, Jerry Kassebaum wrote: >> >> Mongers, >> >> I'm just a hobbyist who would like to be a pro some day, but if you >> need someone to lead I'd be glad to do so. > > Long time lurker here, but Jerry has my vote! > > BTW, I appreciate the "targeted" headhunter emails that are > Perl-specific. I realize there are varied opinions on this :) I'm just expressing mine. mike > > Back to lurking... > > --Brian > _______________________________________________ > Dfw-pm mailing list > Dfw-pm at pm.org > http://mail.pm.org/mailman/listinfo/dfw-pm From nadim.khemir at gmail.com Wed Oct 31 12:46:14 2012 From: nadim.khemir at gmail.com (nadim khemir) Date: Wed, 31 Oct 2012 14:46:14 -0500 Subject: [DFW.pm] in dallas for a short time Message-ID: hi guys, I am in Dallas and wondered if you were still active or have any meeting soon. If you won't be here for two more weeks, we could always get a drink somewhere to welcome you to Dallas properly. :) Also I run an Open Source meetup which will be this Sat morning, if that fits in your schedule. We always go have lunch afterwards and geek out, no cost, more than welcome. http://dallasmakerspace.org/blog/calendar/ John Fields 469-688-7726 Cell On 10/31/2012 02:46 PM, nadim khemir wrote: > hi guys, I am in Dallas and wondered if you were still active or have any meeting soon. > > Cheers, Nadim. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Meant to also send: https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!forum/dallasp6m The DFW perl mongers proper are currently being re-organized, no scheduled meetings there. There is a Perl 6 group that meets in Allen on the second Tuesday of every month. That link is the google groups link to it.
