Feel free to participate in both attending and/or planning! This will be our 3rd year to host one and they get bigger and better every time. We have a classroom with projector that will be running presentations every half hour starting about 1pm. Unless we get more of them and start earlier. :) Mark your calendars! I've got duties at the Makerspace meeting, but Steve and Stacy are solid hackers so should be good. :) John Fields -------- Original Message -------- Subject: [DMS] An Alternative to Tomorrow's Meeting Date: Wed, 8 Aug 2012 09:33:58 -0500 From: Stephen Wylie Reply-To: Dallas Makerspace Members Only List To: DMS at lists.dallasmakerspace.org Hi everyone, I know lots of people feel warm & fuzzy inside from attending the monthly meeting, but Stacy & I won't be there because we'll be givng a presentation on Non-Native Android Development at the Dallas Android Developers Group meeting in far north Dallas. (In fact, this is why we never make the monthlies. ;) What is Non-Native Android Development, you ask? Well, it's the use of anything besides Android Java to write an app for the Android platform. Most popular is JavaScript & HTML5, and there are many other platforms such as Sencha, StackMob, Titanium, and so on. We'll go over the benefits and drawbacks of several major platforms, then discuss the HTML5/JScript/Phonegap combination in more detail. So if you want more information, you should join us tomorrow night! Several of you have talked to me about development, so it'd be wonderful to see your bright, shining faces there. ;-) We're even listed on the InnovateDFW calendar: http://innovatedfw.com/calendar See ya, Stephen On 08/09/2012 01:41 AM, ashley willis wrote: > hi, i'm ashley. i live up in the sherman area. i currently work remote as an email migration engineer for a company out of > buffalo, ny, so far exclusively in perl. back in 1998 i learned perl from a course called "unix, perl, and cgi" at TAMUCC (/waves > at Pm), and outside of that and the books "learning perl", "programming perl", and "perl cookbook" i bought back then, never > really learned much more about perl until recently, and i'm modernizing my knowledge. i was also doing a lot of work on the > android email client k-9 (in java) until i got my current job, but i've been spending my free time recently refreshing and > improving my perl. > > also, am i to understand that there's a meeting this thusday night (tonight) somewhere? > > -ashley -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
