The next meeting of the Detroit Perl Mongers will be Tuesday, August 18 2009
at 7pm.

This month Tim Taylor will be presenting on building RESTful web services.
Tim Taylor is a software developer and agile enthusiast working at ePrize.
 
In his role on ePrize's Product Engineering team Tim and team have been
working to expose ePrize promotion technology as RESTful web services. This
has involved existing and newly built subsystems written in both Perl and
Java. He'll be sharing his experience on designing and implementing RESTful
web services for heterogeneous systems and functional testing RESTful
services with FitNesse <http://fitnesse.org/>.

The meeting location is One ePrize Drive, Pleasant Ridge, MI 48069. Food
will be provided by ePrize at 6:30 with the meeting starting at 7. Please

SVG Open 2009, the 7th International Conference on Scalable Vector
Graphics, titled "SVG coming of age", will be held at the Google
Crittenden Campus in Mountain View, California on October 2-4 2009,
with additional workshops on October 5. Co-sponsored by W3C, the SVG
Open conference series is the premier forum for SVG designers,
developers, and implementors to share ideas, experiences, products, and
strategies. Over 60 presentations will be delivered from SVG experts
all over the world, tackling topics such as design workflows, mobile
SVG, Web application development, Web mapping, geo-location based
services, and much more. Two panel discussions will allow the audience
to discuss ideas and issues with the W3C SVG Working Group and
implementors. Many W3C Members will be participating, including Google,
IBM, Mozilla, Opera, Oracle, Quickoffice and Vodafone. The conference
schedule and confirmed keynote speakers are now available. The deadline
