Deadline is midnight (CST) tonight! If you haven't created an account on the ACT-hosted YAPC::NA site, please do so and submit your proposal. Any questions about abstracts can be sent to abstracts-na at yapc.org . If you'd like to give a talk but are not quite sure what to present, look at the wiki for talk suggestions ( http://conferences.mongueurs.net/yn2007/wiki). Or if you don't plan on giving a talk, but would like to suggest one, then add it to the list of suggestions. Again, last year attendees requested talks be tagged with suggested experience level of attendee (beginner, intermediate, advanced). Please include this in the comments section of your talk if appropriate. Jeremy YAPC::NA 2007 http://www.yapc.org/America -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... A hackathon is a gathering of free and open source software developers reflecting the joy of collective hacking. Building on the tradition of previous Perl hackathons in Toronto, Chicago and elsewhere, Hackathon Toronto will encourage people to come together for face-to-face work on Perl 5, Perl 6, CPAN modules, Parrot, Pugs and ... you name it! A hackathon wiki has been established at http://rakudo.org/hackathon- toronto/. Go there to learn details as to participation, location, transportation, projects, logistics, etc. As we get closer to the hackathon date, log on to #hackathon on irc.perl.org. If you can be in Toronto on Saturday, April 28, we hope to see you there. Thank you very much. Jim Keenan -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I have a website were there are couple of dozen constants such as if the software should run in production or test, the path to some data directories, data base name and other stuff that should not be hard coded, that each module needs to access. I've briefly looked at some code that uses EXPORT stuff etc and was wondering what the "Pro's" would advise and recommend. I've also implemented a module with sub's that return the constant, ie get_dbname (), etc. Ron Colcernian detroit-pm-request at pm.org wrote: > Send Detroit-pm mailing list submissions to > detroit-pm at pm.org > > To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit > http://mail.pm.org/mailman/listinfo/detroit-pm > or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to > detroit-pm-request at pm.org > > You can reach the person managing the list at > detroit-pm-owner at pm.org > > When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific > than "Re: Contents of Detroit-pm digest..." > > > Today's Topics: > > 1. That got me thinking about how this year, Perl turns 20. Upon a closer look, I see that Dec 18th is the 3rd tuesday of the month, which means it coincides with the December Detroit-pm meeting. It might be fun to plan ahead for a special meeting. This kind of early planning can draw more people into the group, which I think is what we'd all like to see. We've done things like this for MUG.org, and we've seen pretty nice increases in attendance that trickles into subsequent meetings. I think someone mentioned getting one of the Perl notables in sometime in the future. Maybe December would be a good time to shoot for. Anybody else have ideas? I'm mostly mentioning this, because if I don't tell someone about it, I'll probably forget about it. Jim McQuillan jam at Ltsp.org
