Hi all!
As many of you probably are aware, I've been working to organize a hackathon
to improve the state of the art of Perl tools to work with the Semantic Web.
Now, it is really going to happen. The venue will be The London Hackspace in
London, UK and the time is 28th to the 30th of March (we'll start about 9
o'clock am and finish the official programme about 5 pm).
These are the currently confirmed participants: Gregory Todd Williams, Toby
Inkster, Kjetil Kjernsmo, Chris Prather, Florian Ragwitz, Mischa Tuffield and
Espen Borgen.
There's also a web-page about the event, which is sponsored by NUUG
Foundation, ABC Startsiden AS and the SeSam4 project:
http://www.perlrdf.org/workshops/london-hackathon-2011.html
If you consider participating, consider the following:
This is an event for those who just wants to code to make Semantic Web happen.
It is not for those who wants to learn Perl or RDF. To this end, participants
are expected to have prior knowledge of the technologies, and must be able to
produce code and willing to license it free and upload it to CPAN.
The whole thing is organized on a pretty tight budget, so while I may be able
to cover some costs for food, for now industry or academic participants are
expected to pay small fee to cover the costs of lunch and dinner. You are
expected to find your own accommodation and transportation. We are particularly
interested in developers who can help integrate triplestores or reasoners with
the infrastructure that we have already.
If you're interested, please respond to me privately.
For those who want to learn Perl and RDF, we will organise a dissemination
workshop at the International Conference on Web Intelligence, Mining and
Semantics (WIMS'11), http://wims.vestforsk.no/ . You are encouraged to
register and participate at this conference.
Cheers,
Kjetil
