In addition, there was an apparent hack of the machine recently. In response to this, I disabled all accounts and disabled ftp on hfb. I have been reenabling accounts as the requests come in and I get some info on each account. Please don't all send requests at once. I generally reenable an account within 24 hours. If everyone requests reenablement at once, then people really needing back on will suffer. Trust me that I'm the one most inconvenienced by this :) I'm just trying to prevent another attack as best I can. If any of you have any comments on things we should / should not do on hfb, or know of problems that are waiting resolution, email me directly. I'd love HFB in the subject, but it will get handled without it. -- Wayne Walker Unix SysAdmin/Perl Hacker/System Architect **Majordomo list services provided by PANIX ** **To Unsubscribe, send "unsubscribe groups" to majordomo@lists.pm.org** ----------------------------------------------------------------------- To send mail to the Columbus.pm list send email to columbus-pm-list@happyfunball.pm.org To unsubscribe send an email to majordomo@hfb.pm.org with unsubscribe columbus-pm-list youremail@yourdomain.com ----------------------------------------------------------------------- From alexande at cob.ohio-state.edu Thu Jun 8 13:06:59 2000 From: alexande at cob.ohio-state.edu (Jason Alexander) Date: Thu Aug 5 00:00:04 2004 Subject: [columbus.pm] maybe summers are a little slower Message-ID: <393FE0C3.F5CD5B6A@cob.ohio-state.edu> Chad, Everyone seems to be on vacation, and as a systems administrator, this is my busiest time of the year. I am overloaded with life this year. You can stay at a family member's house. You will most likely meet some cool people and maybe go out to a movie at this bar/theatre place and stuff. There is plenty to do - and when you go to sleep, then you should be fine going to a relative's place and sleeping. I stayed in the dorms last year and it was pretty nice. (no network access from there though) Last year, the organizer of YAPC asked me to bring cookies. His mother lives in Coumbus and she makes a whole bunch of stuff for people to eat and such. They feed you well at YAPC. Anyway, if you are going to YAPC and would like to meet the guy behind it, (and his mom), let me know and I can have him email you.
