From jalex+ at osu.edu Tue Aug 3 08:30:55 1999 From: jalex+ at osu.edu (Jason) Date: Thu Aug 5 00:00:21 2004 Subject: verifying meeting #1 this thursday Message-ID: <4.1.19990803090140.00a10de0@pop.cis.ohio-state.edu> If you haven't heard yet, we are meeting this Thursday at 7pm. If you could let me know if you are coming, just so I can know what to expect, that would be great. The agenda will be a suprise, but not a "Mark-Jason Dominus visit" kind of suprise. It will still be good enough not to sleep through. Don't forget to bring money if you want coffee and such. Sorry for those who wanted a nice relaxing alchoholic beverage. I dropped by BW3 and they seem to be okay with younger people over 18 in there before 8pm. So, maybe in the future we can find a place like that at 6pm and 2 hours may be enough. --Jason From jalex+ at osu.edu Tue Aug 3 09:12:15 1999 From: jalex+ at osu.edu (Jason) Date: Thu Aug 5 00:00:21 2004 Subject: webpage Message-ID: <4.1.19990803101107.00a63c30@pop.cis.ohio-state.edu> http://columbus.pm.org/ Check the page for directions and address info. I have a link to mapblast or something on there, so you can just look at the map and resize it and stuff. We decided to meet at BW3's off of Bethel Rd. It is behind Cooker in a small shopping/eating area. Skyline Chili is another place in that area. A map will be put on the http://columbus.pm.org/ webpage. We will meet at 7pm again, and if you are under 21, you can get in before 8pm, and maybe they will let you stay. It should be okay. We had a good time and discussed what kind of things we may be able to do with the group. -We could bring in guest speakers -Have members do presentations or just talk about what they do with perl -independently write code that does something we agree on and then talk about the different ways we all did it. -Have like member profiles or web page sections on the columbu.pm.org webpage. -share ideas and put up a bulletin board for questions and answers and communication -drink beverages of choice (soda for me) Any ideas from any of you are welcome...you may mail to the list if you think it's appropriate - columbus-pm-list@hfb.pm.org --Jason From dbcollins at yahoo.com Mon Aug 9 13:48:57 1999 From: dbcollins at yahoo.com (David Collins) Date: Thu Aug 5 00:00:21 2004 Subject: Unfortunate Message-ID: <19990809184857.3087.rocketmail@web124.yahoomail.com> I feel unfortunate that I missed the first meeting and I will try my darndest to make it to the others. I have a suggestion for something the group can do. It seems to me that with so many Perl programmers swapping ideas, it might be interesting to tackle a big project collectively and release it as open source. You can still have fun discussing the way you implemented a particular module or snippit of code but collective a large useful piece of software might be born. Its an editor written in perl so that you can customize your editor in perl instead of, say, elisp. If that sort of thing interests any of you, you can look at it here: http://www.freshmeat.net/appindex/1999/07/08/931483448.html It's actually at rev 0.1.4. It's mostly stable but it needs work to make it truely useful. -Matt From jalex+ at osu.edu Thu Aug 19 09:00:51 1999 From: jalex+ at osu.edu (Jason) Date: Thu Aug 5 00:00:21 2004 Subject: meeting 2 Message-ID: <4.2.0.58.19990819095818.03060e20@pop.cis.ohio-state.edu> Don't forget the meeting tonight at 7pm. http://columbus.pm.org/meet.html I may talk about mysql and DBI and how to royally screw it up. =) (joking about the screwing up part) --Jason From jgaston at columbus.rr.com Sun Aug 22 07:56:12 1999 From: jgaston at columbus.rr.com (James Gaston) Date: Thu Aug 5 00:00:21 2004 Subject: test Message-ID: <046001beec9d$b7a4bd00$050aa8c0@amd.columbus.rr.com> list columbus-pm-list From alexander.232 at osu.edu Sun Aug 22 20:57:56 1999 From: alexander.232 at osu.edu (Jason) Date: Thu Aug 5 00:00:21 2004 Subject: next meeting Message-ID: <4.1.19990822215734.00a089e0@pop.cis.ohio-state.edu> >The second meeting turned out pretty dead, with only three of us cool >people. Is it clear how to post and all that? I never created a footer for the list, but I can create one telling you how to mail to the mailing list and add and remove, etc. Any thoughts on that? Also, if I have the columbus.pm webpage have member's pages, do you want to have your photos there or not. I am thinking not, to keep it professional...but it doesn't matter. I was planning on setting up a site where you could upload your sub-page to. We'll see how it goes. --Jason
