Mark's idea sounds most excellent and interesting too me.

Can't say I follow what Jerk City is? Reckon you gotta watch TV or see movies to follow that one???

I could bring in some working Perl code for FlashDjinni.pm (it is readable AND works now).

Short Story
End result is your web page can have a telephone conversation and a voice answering machine in it.

Long Story
FlashDjinni.pm will have a Perl subroutine for managing (client/client/server side) 2 way voice chat and a simple voice answering machine by then, using Flash Communication Server. Also will use Perl to compile the appropriate SWF files on Flash MX2004 and configure the FlashCom Server with new accounts. Let me know if it is interesting, cause I gotta tote in a Windows XP box.

More long story
A simple example is on front page of HenryJamesFeltus.com. The rest should be working next week. If you
a. Rollover image of Rev Feltus
b. Accept the microphone use window
c. Press and hold mouse button over image of Mrs Feltus
d. Talk into microphone and it saves message on Flash Communications Server.
e. Release button and connection ends.
f. If all works well, there should be a message I can playback

Sam the Gardener

PS Basically Flash-Javascript and Flash-ActionScript ugliness embedded in a nice Perl wrapper for easy management. Easy management for a Perl person anyways.

Wow, never thought I'd see Jerk City emulated in a meeting request...
*grin*

I've been told I need to talk about template toolkit, and I really plan
to, I just need to install it again and refresh my brane... so I'll
volunteer *two* talks, not just one... I'll also do a mid-level talk on
data structures in Perl, some basic tips and tricks for people who are
either newer to the language, or newer to data strcture concepts... sound
like a plan?

It gives me joy that someone got it. Also, I'd love to get some more
datastructures-fu. I'm not working on anything new, so I don't have
anything at-hand to talk about solo.
