Message-ID: <20030724155445.GA9075@golliher.net> Hello fellow Perl hackers! It warms my heart to see so many people interested in ClassicCity.pm. Our mailing list has been set up for a few days now, but I waited until you were all here before I started the ball rolling. Welcome! I'll start right in with some group business. The first and only entry in the FAQ comes from Jim. He asked where and where is our first meeting. That assumes of course that enough of us are interested in meeting in person-- I certainly am. I propose that the small conference room at the Athens Regional Library. Other suggestions are welcome, but I do have reason to keep it off-campus. So what say you about meetings? I'm leaning towards quiet meeting space conducive to talking. Someplace where everyone can hear everyone else. My experiece is that with public places like restraunts and bars it's hard to have a conversation that includes more just two or three people. Comments? Having recently returned from OSCON I'm again inspired by the perl lightning talks. The concept is you have 5 minutes to speak on whatever you want. At four minutes into your talk you get a warning. At 5 minutes you get the gong. I'm willing to give one or two talks at our first meeting provided you guys like the idea and some of you are also willing to give a 5 minutes talk. Comments? While I have your attention I'd like to encourage everyone to use the wiki, particularly your members page. My hope is that you'll all take an interest in our website and help keep it fresh. Don't be shy about hitting the edit button. Again, I'm glad to see so much interest in ClassicCity.pm. Let the discussion begin. cheers, Darrell Golliher From markh at markh.com Fri Jul 25 10:41:53 2003 From: markh at markh.com (Mark Hazen) Date: Mon Aug 2 21:28:35 2004 Subject: [Classiccity-pm] Hello Perl Mongers! Comments? Sure, I'll give a couple too. I'll need to find some topics, but that shouldn't be a problem.
