I thought this might be of interest to pass along here. 2 bills are going
through the Illinois state legislature right now that seek to duplicate the
age verification laws that California just passed, that you might have
heard about. If you haven't heard of this, here's a short video:

If anyone is interested in submitting a "Witness Slip" about this (not
writing out anything, it's just a form to register "I oppose this" or "I

That's only for a hearing on  HB5511 (Children's Social Media Safety Act,

The bills as created in California require age verification to install
Linux, and the Illinois laws would be similar.

The question is, is it being used as a cudgel and if so what are the ramifications for freedom of speech, access to information and computing.
