[Chicago-talk] launching a terminal?

I trying to figure out a way that a for a for a program to launch a terminal with system("gnome-terminal") and have that terminal intern launch another program as soon as it's launched. I've tried perl -e 'system(gnome-terminal; perl print_list.pl");' but the program is not running when the terminal opens.

Any help would be very much appreciated.
