If you have really basic needs and your client has a paypal account you
can easily integrate site with PayPal to allow users to make credit
card payments that will credit the clients PayPal account. Their docs
have examples on how to do this in various languages, including Perl [1] 

Of course PayPal takes a cut on payments...last I checked it was like 3% I
think.
