I've got a little talk on AJAX and Perl that I'd be happy to give if anybody wants to pick a venue. A projector would be nice. Maybe someone else could give a talk as well. I found this list, not sure how up-to-date it is: http://www.cuwin.net/hotspots If we're looking for a place that has decent dinner-time food, then these look like good choices: Panera Bread (either location), Pekara, Za's (campus only). Maybe Cafe Paradiso, I'm not sure of what exactly they server and what their hours are. (Actually, for any of these places we should probably check what their hours are, especially this time of year.) Some other places that might be possibilities, but I'm not familiar with them: Blind Pig, Guido's. If food is not a requirement, a number of other places become options (although I prefer food :-). I did consider how conducive these places are for some kind of "talk" (e.g., in terms of having enough space and tables), although not to the point of having a projector and/or somewhere to project onto. Not sure any place meets that requirement. Well, if we can provide our own projector, maybe there's a place that has a decent space to project on to (e.g., a wall :-). I can't remember the details of these places enough to say. I'd be surprised if anyone has a projector. Maybe another option is to do it on campus somewhere and order in pizza :-). (Semi-facetious -- that could probably be worked out if we really desired.)
