So far we have four members, including myself! I know that Skud lives in Melbourne (he actually runs the Melbourne Perl Mongers group) so he can't attend any possible future meetings :) I'm live in Wyee on the Central Coast - Homeless and Sue, whereabouts do you reside? I think I'll start emailing regularly even though we only have a handful of members, just for practice ;) Kind regards, Stewart central-coast-pm-list From stewart.heckenberg at studentmail.newcastle.edu.au Sat Apr 8 10:32:36 2000 From: stewart.heckenberg at studentmail.newcastle.edu.au (Stewart Heckenberg) Date: Wed Aug 4 23:59:49 2004 Subject: Hello from O'Reilly (fwd) Message-ID: <3.0.5.32.20000409013236.008806b0@studentmailbox.newcastle.edu.au> >Hello, > >As your O'Reilly User Group contact, I would like to have as much >current info about your group as possible to better serve your needs. >Please take the time to answer the following questions, and I'll send >you an O'Reilly T-Shirt! > >1. I've been interested in Perl for a few years now and I've done a modest amount of code in Perl for Uni assignments and some websites. I'm no guru, but I can ride my camel without falling off (too much). I use all of those the operating systems - Unix (several flavours), Mac and Windows at Uni, Windows at work, and Windows and Linux at home. I'm most comfortable in Windows, but I'll probably use Linux more when I buy a better computer (I own a 486!)... >chow, > homeless Cheers, Stewart a.k.a. And just as well, too. I'm right down the other end, at Woy Woy, but I usually half-lie and say I live at Gosford so the creeps can't find me. > > >>I think I'll start emailing regularly even though we only have a handful of > >>members, just for practice ;) > >> > >>Kind regards, > >>Stewart > > > >cool. > > > >Who is everybody? What are your backgrounds in perl and/or camel riding? My background in perl is almost zilch, though I've been at it for 4 years. I've read a couple of books, done a course, but not really made use of it yet. Too busy doing boring stuff to keep systems alive so that others can get their jollies coding :-( Maybe I can squeeze perl into the new job I've just started... hmmm... > >And Are you Mac-ees, Linux-ees, or Win-ees (the poos)? > >Not that I'm, er, prejudice. I've been using a 386 with 8 MB RAM here for over 2 years, as a router/DNS/FTP/Web/Mail server and sometimes as a workstation too. I also run a few majordomo mailing lists and do DNS and web hosting for a few other domains, and this is the machine where I do any perl dabbling with its nice clear text screen. It's still solid as a rock. I have another machine for X but the 386 does most of the grunt work for the network happily, so why upgrade? But don't let that influence you. You deserve better than what you have. OBTW, when you're throwing the 486 away, let me know :-) -- Regards, -*Sue*- central-coast-pm-list From stewart.heckenberg at studentmail.newcastle.edu.au Mon Apr 10 01:10:21 2000 From: stewart.heckenberg at studentmail.newcastle.edu.au (Stewart Heckenberg) Date: Wed Aug 4 23:59:49 2004 Subject: Central Coast Perl Mongers 09/04/00 In-Reply-To: <20000410140111.A10056@netizen.com.au> Message-ID: My apologies Skud, Never judge a person by their nickname :) Cheers, Stewart On Mon, 10 Apr 2000 skud@netizen.com.au wrote: > On Sun, Apr 09, 2000 at 01:20:19AM +1000, Stewart Heckenberg wrote: > > So far we have four members, including myself!
