G'day folk,

Paul and I are heading over to Canberra in a couple of weeks to run some 
training courses.  We'd love to meet up with you and have a few drinks and say 
hi.  If anyone knows of a good location to do presentations (ideally with a data 
projector) we'd be very happy to provide talks on a variety of topics, otherwise 
dinner and or drinks is always a popular option.

So how about we meet somewhere in (or nearish) Civic at 7pm?  I haven't visited 
Canberra that often so I'll have to rely on your suggestions of where to meet. 
For what it's worth, Paul and I are vegetarian, so somewhere with a reasonable 
catering to that and preferrably low-smoke would be great.  Having said that, 
pubs are often quite good.  :)

We'll encourage our course participants to come along so hopefully we'll help 
swell your ranks.

There have been some recent developments on the YAPC::NA front,

Not that far from Civic, but a little too far to walk. Whereis seems to be a
bit stuffed for me at the moment, so I can't provide a link to a route from
Civic to the Ainslie shops.

yourselves in or near Sydney on the 3rd of June, you might want to visit Stas 
Bekman's talk on mod_perl 2 for Sydney Perl Mongers.

This is a *free* 2-3 hour tutorial on all things mod_perl 2.  To find out more 
sign up to the Sydney PM mailing list.

Should your work place be interested in hiring Stas for some mod_perl consulting 
let him know and I'm sure he'd be happy to help.  He has a business visa for 
this visit so you shouldn't have any problems in that regard.  If he travels to 
Canberra to do business at your workplace then I'm certain he'd be willing to 
present his tutorial to Canberra PM.

We won't have a car with us as we'll be flying in and staying at a hotel which 
is a hop, skip and a jump away from the training venue.  If you can give me the 
address then I'm sure a taxi can get us there.

Could you find out whether they have a private room which we could use and what, 
if any, the conditions on use are?  (minimum numbers etc).  Such a setup might 
allow us to give a few presentations while we wait for dinner to arrive etc.

I've made a booking under my name for 7pm in the function room for 7 people.
If you've been leaving it to the last minute, let me know ASAP and I can

G'day everyone,

It was really good to meet so many of you last Thursday.  I hope you enjoyed 
Paul's and my presentations and might think of something you could present 
yourself sometime in the future.

Paul will be back in Canberra from the 22nd to the 24th of June to run our 
Database Programming with Perl (23rd) and Perl Security (24th) courses.  He'd 
love to meet with you all again.

Someone (forgive me for not remembering who) said that they'd like to organise a 
SAGE-AU meeting for Paul to speak at as well.  As he'll only be there two nights 
this will make him rather busy (which is a good thing).  However, I'll need to 
know approximate details for the 22nd so that I can arrange his flights to get 
him in early enough to check into his hotel before the meeting.

Would there be any benefit in combining the two meetings?

For those who are kind of thinking of joining us on either (or both) of our 
courses in June the deals are as follows:

	Perl Security course only:  $630
         Database course only:       $630
         Both courses:               $990

and as a special favour to you all I'll also extend the Early Bird date to this 
Friday.  So if you can book and pay by the 27th you'll get a free book with your

It was I who was wondering if Paul could speak at a SAGE-AU ACT chapter
meeting. The 23rd is actually the Thursday that CLUG is on, and there's
currently no speaker lined up, so if he'd like to speak at CLUG (I'm the
CLUG meeting organiser) that could be arranged fairly easily. The
Canberra.pm people are always welcome to come to CLUG meetings.
