1. Announce and Date, Time and Location
The London Perl Workshop (LPW) is a free one-day conference in central
London, UK. LPW is the UK's Premier Perl Event and is also known as the
United Kingdom Perl Workshop (UKPW). In 2013 the London Perl Workshop
will be held on Saturday, November 30th at the University of
Westminster, Cavendish Campus.

2. Theme
This is the 10th Anniversary of the London Perl Workshop and we have
decided to call the event Decadon. We will be opening the field for you
to hold a talk on any matter relating to Perl or the community from the
last 25 years. We would especially love talks about the local London
Perl scene over the last 10 years.

3. Register of Attendance (tickets)
This year we have taken a departure from the norm and added pricing to
the tickets, but let me pause you before your shock turns to ire. The
LPW has always been, and will continue to be, a free event. We survive
from the efforts of our volunteers and sponsors and long may that
continue. however each year the event grows a little larger and we would
like to do more things such as invite special speakers, put on special
talks and continue those efforts throughout the year. For this we will
need funds so we will be asking you to consider buying a ticket to the
event.

There are four ticket prices and the basic attendance ticket is €0
(EUR), this allows us to keep this event free to attend for those who
cannot afford, or do not wish, to pay the ticket prices. In the Perl
Community we have always believed that money is not a barrier to entry
and never will.

Tickets:

1. Attendee of the LPW - €0
2. Friend of the LPW - €25
3. Lover of the LPW - €25
4. Sponsor of the LPW - €100

If you are being sent by a company this is a way for them to help the
community and to further the needs of the event, they could also
consider taking one of our sponsorship packages.

4. Call for Papers
The call for papers and talks is now open and the closing date for this
is Friday, October 25th 2013, the successful papers will be announced on
Monday, October 28th. Please submit early as exceptionally interesting
talks will be selected early.

5. Call for Sponsors
What can I sponsor?
What have you got?
Sponsorship of the LPW is a free choice. As is the manner of your
sponsorship. For more ideas please talk to Mark Keating, email to
m.keating(at)shadowcat.co.uk. We are always on the search for
interesting, innovative or evolved sponsorship opportunities. We like to
work with the sponsors to achieve a mutual beneficial aim, so please
talk to us about your requirements and what we can offer.

What do we offer?
1. Text and link on the sponsors page (you to supply);
2. Thank-you in the closing address;
3. Ten minute slot to discuss yourselves if you choose a premium
sponsorship;
4. Full page on the workshop wiki to fill with whatever you like ;
5. The chance to promote yourselves as connected to the London (and
wider) Perl community;
6. The option to create a unique sponsorship package;
7. A lot of love and respect from the organisers and attendees.

As last year we are offering the chance to become a specific sponsor of
one of the activities associated with the event. The current packages are:

All Sponsors (minimum sponsorship £250) will receive:
* A page on the wiki;
* Their logo on the website and in all related marketing;
* A write-up by Mark in all advertising and related promotion;
* A page in the Conference Booklet (A5);
* Their logo in the back of the conference booklet;
* Their logo on the Conference banner;

Lecture Room Sponsors (Sponsorship cost: £500 each room, Minimum: 1
room) will receive all the above and:
* The ability to brand the room with posters/banners advertising them;
* A fifteen minute introductory spot in their room on any subject they
wish (please confirm with the organisers if this is required);

Workshop Room Sponsors (Sponsorship cost: £500 each room, Minimum: 3

event needed) as 'All Sponsors' plus:
* Ability to brand the pub with posters/banners (needs to be negotiated
for what will be allowed);
* A 10 minute slot to address the crowd (they will be drinking your beer
and food so expect cheering/noise);

Media Sponsor (£1,000, Minimum: 1 event needed) as 'All Sponsors' plus:
* Their name in principal position on the banner and booklet;
* Your name on principal position on any media elements;
* A 10 minute slot to address the crowd (they will be drinking your beer
and food so expect cheering/noise);

6. New to Programming, new to Perl, use another language?
If you are new to the Perl language, or are a practitioner of another
programming language then we would love to welcome you to the London
Perl Workshop this year.

We would also like to welcome those of you taking your first steps into
the higher languages and to programming, come along to a conference that
embraces newbies, be prepared for spirited debate and to have your
understanding stretched, but in a friendly way with a beer and a cake of
choice .

The reason we would especially like to welcome you this year (you are
welcome any time) is that there is a glut of companies in the Perlverse
seeking new programmers, some of these companies seek experienced Perl
personnel, but many of them also seek experienced polyglot programmers
as experience of more than one language brings benefits and they have on
the job training where you can use your existing skills while learning
new ones, there are also companies seeking graduates and have graduate
internship programs so this is the right time to brush up your skills in
Perl and see what has changed, and trust me a lot has. So take the
plunge, at the very least you can see some of the new things in a
rival/new language and get a free drink.

Visit: www.londonperlworkshop.org.uk and register today . Why Sponsor?
The London Perl Workshop is a free event (see note on attendance above)
in which members of the Perl community can come together and enjoy a
great selection of talks, a cacophony of advice from various luminaries
and an atmosphere of tranquility for gentle, and often bearded, folk.
This is your chance to show yourselves to that captive audience, to
embrace them, or just to remind them that you continue in your support
of this wide and diverse community.

Finally: Please share this email with as many people as you can. Please
place this data in as many places as you can.
