APM: Christmas Party Report & Pics

Howdy Mongers,
We had a great Christmas Party tonight, plenty of delicious Double
Dave's pizza and special Perl-themed Christmas "prizes" for everyone
in attendance!
Among the many topics discussed are 4 of special significance...
1.  We want to switch to a new meeting schedule, one meeting per
quarter with a special or unique focus such as Christmas Party (this
meeting), Hackathon, Guest Speaker, and Lightning Talks.  Our next
meeting is tentatively scheduled for the March time-frame, with more
specific details to come.  We are currently open to any requests for
topics, hackathon projects, guest speakers, etc.
2.  We would like to have an Austin Perl Mongers contingent present at
every TPC::NA (The Perl Conference North America, formerly YAPC).  I
will personally be attending each annual conference to present RPerl,
Perl 11, CloudForFree, and other related projects.  If we can get at
least 1 or 2 other Austin Perl Mongers at each TPC, then we can
consider setting up a booth and/or hosting a Birds-of-a-Feather (BoF)
activity such as game night, Perligami (Perl-themed origami), etc.
3.  We need to work more toward promoting Perl usage, education, jobs,
and marketing.  One idea is to teach a free Perl class, but we need
more ideas about how to get people to know about and attend such a
class.  More ideas (and follow-up commitment) are encouraged, we need
to do something to boost Perl in the Austin technology scene.
4.  We need to re-engage with the Meetup website, I will look into
this and report back to the group.
