Message-ID: I have accepted an offer to mong Perl professionally! athenahealth provides medical billing, practice management, and Electronic Health Records services. As it happens, they implemented the first versions of their products in Perl and they haven't recoded. The developer job description says "In terms of the technology platform-- you'll be working on Linux with Oracle, Perl, and Apache. But that's not why you'd be coming here; we believe any developer worth his/her salt can pick this stuff up in a matter of a couple of months. We're more interested in folks with raw talent and a burning desire to succeed." But I think my Perl skills were nonetheless a factor. Their head office is in Boston: 1200 people, I think. Austin: I'll be 4. The local boss is not looking to grow it much, alas. I don't know whether the one job listing for Austin is my position that they haven't taken down, or if it is for #5. athenahealth appears to be a VERY good and clueful company. I will keep my ears open and post to the list. -- Tim McDaniel; Reply-To: tmcd at panix.com
