HB 789: The Assault on Municipal Broadband in Texas

Broadband connectivity is becoming essential infrastructure, much like
power and water were in the last century. Communities across Texas--and
the nation--are working to assure their citizens and businesses have
access to this infrastructure. The incumbent communication providers are
fighting back, saying it's unfair competition. Texas is the
current focus of the battle, where a new law (House Bill 789) has been
proposed that will create some of the tights restrictions in the nation.
Chip Rosenthal, a founder of the Save Muni Wireless coaltion, will discuss
the battle over municipal broadband and the status of HB 789.
