Directions: http://www.sabacafe.com (208-D West 4th Street) Everyone- Since Wayne missed it last month (and everyone is too busy to think of alternatives), we are planning our July gathering at Saba again. They have happy hour from 5-7 pm, so we are gathering for APM starting at 6 pm. Happy hour includes their $3 specialty drinks and $3 select appetizers. There is plenty of parking two blocks west around the park and in the area south of the Intel building skeleton. The Gathering will begin at 6 pm, and last until 8 pm or until people go home. Bring your perl questions, and perl notable items and we'll have a good discussion. One topic of discussion will be our fall meeting topics, so if you want something scheduled, post it to the list or bring it to the gathering. David ---------- David H. For anything that is a special variable like this you can do perldoc perlvar at your command line to get the help page on that. Also, if you 'use English';, it's $OSNAME, which may be easier to remember. perl -MEnglish -e 'print "$OSNAME\n"' [Now I'm just rambling on for the benefit of any newbies] Another nice thing with perldoc is the -f flag to get info on a particular function. For example, perldoc -f sort will tell you most of the details about sort() that you keep forgetting because you keep getting dragged into doing C programming instead of having the joy of a nothing-but-perl job. Heh. And to think, the answer to this question was really only three characters long. :) mike From eharris at puremagic.com Thu Jul 18 18:13:00 2002 From: eharris at puremagic.com (Evan Harris) Date: Mon Aug 2 21:23:13 2004 Subject: APM: Variable to determine OS In-Reply-To: Message-ID: use Config; if ($Config{'osname'} =~ /^mswin/i) { ... } etc. Evan -- | Evan Harris - Consultant, Harris Enterprises - eharris@puremagic.com | | Custom Solutions for your Software, Networking, and Telephony Needs On Thu, 18 Jul 2002, David Bluestein II wrote: > Okay, I know I've seen it, but can't remember it. I am looking to either pay someone to help me clean it up or maybe work out some type of percentage of all sales. Maybe even a partnership of sorts. The project is web based, written in Perl, HTML and a little JavaScript. This project also deals with Postgresql, Sendmail and Apache.. I am not a programmer by trade, it's been a hobby mine you might say, so they may be a lot of cleaning.. If you are interested and talking more about this project and you are willing to sign a non disclosure letter, then email me so we can arrange a meeting.
