                            Issue #1

Before we get into this issue, we must take a moment to thank you, the programmers, for making the Perl Archive what it is today. We wish you all a joyous Holiday, and a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year!

In This Issue:

1.	Forums Now Open
2.	Earn Free Advertising
3.	Do you offer custom programming?
4.	Got your perlguru.com email?
5.	Is your listing up to date?
6.	Holiday Advertising Special
7.	The Boom Continues

===============================
1.  Forums Now Open
===============================

http://www.perlguru.com/forum/

Our Perl forums are now open, and are located at http://www.perlguru.com/forum/. There are discussions for Programming Help, General Feedback, Programs listed at TPA, and of particular interest to you, a "Throw Down the Gauntlet" section.

We've seen many sites that request new programming ideas. The "Throw Down the Gauntlet" section invites our visitors to post their program ideas and "wish lists". Perhaps you can find a program that you'd like to develop here, or find a new client for a custom job. We invite you to pick up the gauntlet and run with it at http://www.perlguru.com/forum/.

===============================
2.  Earn Free Advertising
===============================

http://www.perlarchive.com/tlc/freeadv.shtml

As you may know, we offer free banner impressions for original and republished Perl or webmaster articles. We've substantially increased the number of impressions you can get for each article. Each original Perl-related article you submit that is included publication at the Perl Archive will give you 5,000 free banner impressions (a $60.00 value) at The Perl Archive. If you're a writer at heart and want to do a series or monthly articles for at least 3 consecutive months, you will receive 10,000 free banner impressions (a $100.00 value) per article in the month your article is published.

Restrictions apply. Please be sure to read our offer at http://www.perlarchive.com/tlc/freeadv.shtml.

P.S. Did we mention that you'll receive free, perpetual top banner banner placement on your article?

===============================
3. Do you offer custom programming?
===============================

If you offer custom programming, let us know at custom at perlarchive.com. In the first quarter of 2000, we will be adding a category for custom programmers, a seemingly hot topic. Not only will there be a category dedicated to programmers available for hire, all search results will show "Can't find what you're looking for? Look for a programmer to write your custom program.".

We'll need the following information:
	1.	Your (or your company's) name
	2.	URL
	3.	Email address
	4.	A brief bio of what languages you can program and a short introduction to you or your company.

===============================
4.  Got your perlguru.com email?
===============================

http://www.perlarchive.com/email.shtml

One of the hottest names in free email! Get your free, web-based perlguru.com email account today at http://www.perlarchive.com/email.shtml. Names are limited, get yours before it's gone!

===============================
5. Is your listing up to date?
===============================

As always, we strive to keep our directory the most up to date and accurate archive of programs available. Please help us accomplish this goal by reviewing your listing and letting us know if any changes need to be made. Check your listing at http://www.perlarchive.com/guide/

===============================

===============================
7.  The Boom Continues
===============================

We're astonished at the rapid growth of The Perl Archive. From launch in July 1999, when we received the *first* 3-star (best) rating in 7 cgi/perl categories on the GO Networks (http://www.go.com/), to December 1999, we've received over a half million page views!

And, our monthly traffic has increased by 30,000 page views each month since launch. Please be sure to add all of your programs to The Perl Archive... if it's not here, our visitors can't find your program! Add them at http://www.perlarchive.com/guide/add.cgi.

We hope your listings on our site gives you much success in the coming new year.
