The final meetings were held at the Albany Pump Station - a bit more upscale than probably many could deal with - but much better beer! Frankly, I would be happy as a clam if the Guilded Otter were chosen for at least a meeting or two during the year - but I think that unless we find a lot more folks down where I am as opposed to where you are, there is little chance of that! Either way, here's hoping we can set up something somewhere sometime. Please let me know when there are going to be meetings. If I recall the Troy brewbub was always a popular place! Looking forward to it. Please let me know if I can help. (They've already switched over control of the mailing list). I figure by the end of September (after Techapalooza) I'll have a bigger list of potentials, and we can hammer out a potential location, and have an idea of what sort of meetings we'll do this time 'round. (FYI, the previous round of messages have caused about a dozen people to get auto-disabled on the mailing list.) I'm going to assume that anyone who is still subscribed at this point (36 of us) actually wants to go to meetings. =-) Jack Chastain wrote: > Michael > > Actually, I think after a bit, we grew rather tired of the Troy Brewpub. > The final meetings were held at the Albany Pump Station - a bit more > upscale than probably many could deal with - but much better beer! > > Frankly, I would be happy as a clam if the Guilded Otter were chosen for > at least a meeting or two during the year - but I think that unless we > find a lot more folks down where I am as opposed to where you are, there > is little chance of that! > > Either way, here's hoping we can set up something somewhere sometime. > > Jack > > -----Original Message----- > From: albany-pm-bounces@mail.pm.org > [mailto:albany-pm-bounces@mail.pm.org] On Behalf Of Michael D. There will be a ... pre-meeting meeting at Professor Java's on October 1st, 7pm, on Wolf Road. (We'll try coffee instead of beer this once) We can talk about what exactly we want to be doing, when a good schedule is, etc. If you're unable to make that date, please send me your suggestions, I'll be sure they get raised. The web site is back online. http://albany.pm.org/. This is going to be a meta-meeting - we'll discuss what direction we want the group to take, what sort of meetings and other activities we want to pursue, etc. Things that have made the list: o Getting - speakers - sponsors o Working on - perl6 / parrot - Phalanx 100 o Mentoring/support. (Encourage local perl users to use the list/group as a resource) Presumably we'll have presentations by members as well. I need RSVPs, stat. Right now I have only one!
