A few of us from those two groups have been discussing a workshop in the
area since last years Pittsburgh Workshop.

Since YAPC not much has happened, in a lot of ways because there haven't
been many interesting prospects from locations in the area to host it.

Other general plans were:

Have it sometime after the new year, when there are few other
conferences and such. Of course while at the YAPC BoF we discovered
Dave Rolsky's plans for the Frozen Perl workshop
(http://www.frozen-perl.org/mpw2008/). From there, we discussed either
running them in tandem, or perhaps later in February, or maybe even
March.

Run two tracks. 1 more formal, 1 more round table with some
predetermined topics throughout the day. Letting people bounce in and
out between the two.

I'd love to see these plans fleshed out and moved forward. PHL has some
great offerings as far as transport, proximity to other major cities,
and hotels, but a venue is still undetermined. I've been sort of stuck
around this issue for a while. I feel if we could overcome this we
could get the rest in place.

I don't remember hearing specifically about a Hackathon, or Jeff's
plans, but it would be great to see these two plans converge.

John
