The top of RankReport.pm looks like: #!/usr/bin/perl package Benchmark::RankReport; use strict; use warnings; use lib '/home/faber/libs'; use nycadb; use lib '/home/faber/libs/reports'; use base qw(Benchmark); and the contents are some functions I've copied over from Benchmark.pm (the myOther* functions :-). I've changed 'use Benchmark;' to 'use Benchmark::RankReport;' in my script and change the called $rb = Benchmark->new(); to $rb = RankReport->new(); which doesn't work, but $rb = Benchmark::RankReport->new(); does work. I haven't had to do that (prepending the parent class) in the past with CPAN modules so I'm wondering if I'm doing it right. -- Regards, Faber Fedor President Linux New Jersey, Inc. 908-320-0357 800-706-0701 http://www.linuxnj.com From rjbs-perl-abe at lists.manxome.org Fri Mar 9 10:26:03 2007 From: rjbs-perl-abe at lists.manxome.org (Ricardo SIGNES) Date: Fri, 9 Mar 2007 13:26:03 -0500 Subject: [ABE.pm] Inhertance In-Reply-To: <20070309170450.GA31944@neptune.faber.nom> References: <300ccfa50703070942m5e60fe9n3deeb647a83d3e64@mail.gmail.com> <20070307181211.GA8583@zodiac.codesimply.com> <20070309170450.GA31944@neptune.faber.nom> Message-ID: <20070309182603.GA13243@zodiac.codesimply.com> * "Faber J. When you say "use X::Y::Z", perl goes through each entry in @INC and looks for X/Y/Z.pm. The package that gets defined because of that is based on the "package" line(s) in Z.pm, but generally it will define "package X::Y::Z" If that is a class with a new method, you will need to say X::Y::Z->new, not Z->new. I think this is what you were talking about, but I'm not sure. -- rjbs From faber at linuxnj.com Sun Mar 18 18:08:50 2007 From: faber at linuxnj.com (Faber J. I've stayed with JSON but it is rather slow; it takes up to to 30 seconds to load the page. I believe Storable has less overhead, but it's just a belief. I've had my hands full with hardware problems, verifying the algorithm used in the reports and moving it into production, slowness and all. -- Faber From faber at linuxnj.com Wed Mar 28 15:29:19 2007 From: faber at linuxnj.com (Faber Fedor) Date: Wed, 28 Mar 2007 18:29:19 -0400 Subject: [ABE.pm] april 4th, beer and food In-Reply-To: <20070328205428.GB21601@zodiac.codesimply.com> References: <20070328205428.GB21601@zodiac.codesimply.com> Message-ID: <300ccfa50703281529u31de4a76tbc6a907cd44e2917@mail.gmail.com> On 3/28/07, Ricardo SIGNES wrote: > > I am torn.
