Message-ID: So the great news is that we have had no problem booking rooms at the Venue. We love that over 240 room-nights have been booked so far, and want as many people to be able to stay at the venue as possible. We have received reports of people being turned way, and told the hotel is booked. I?ve spoken with the hotel, they explained to me that they are currently booked solid on the Friday/Saturday (June 24th/25th) before YAPC, and the Friday/Saturday (July 1st / 2nd) after YAPC. The Sunday through Thursday for YAPC have plenty of rooms available. If the hotel desk tells you otherwise, please ask them for whatever availability they have, and contact a member of the organization team immediately. You can email us at rooms at yapc2011.us specifically about this issue. The excellent hotel staff will be keeping an eye on the problem dates and as things open up they?ll add rooms to those days and let me know. We have created a page on the wiki to track this. Thank you all for making this an awesome YAPC::NA so far. Keep it up. I just booked Sunday through Wednesday morning (i.e. not staying Weds night) via the hotel website. I may be coming in Saturday, and there was nothing available then, but it looks like there are lots of cheap hotels nearby. The issue will be finding one that's close enough to walk from. - Perrin From chris at prather.org Fri May 20 15:05:09 2011 From: chris at prather.org (Chris Prather) Date: Fri, 20 May 2011 18:05:09 -0400 Subject: [yapc] No Room at the Inn? I've been hearing lots of inconsistent reports all along about what is available and what isn't. It apparently depends on what line you call (the 800 number is an offsite call center, while the 826 number is the local reservations department) as well as whom you speak to when you call. I've sent (another) email to the hotel to talk to them about this. This is in addition to the calls and emails I've made during the last month. It is my (current) understanding that while our block goes away tonight, we will still have the group rate available but we will not be guaranteed availability (obviously thus far we haven't been guaranteed to be *told* what was available). I will keep people updated as to what the story is as I am kept apprised by the hotel. Thank you all for your patience in all of this and I'm sorry for this hiccup in the process. -Chris From c.nehren/yapc at shadowcat.co.uk Mon May 23 17:05:33 2011 From: c.nehren/yapc at shadowcat.co.uk (Chris Nehren) Date: Mon, 23 May 2011 20:05:33 -0400 Subject: [yapc] Room update Message-ID: We're currently working with the resort to resolve the issue of booking rooms.
