[yapc] dark star author is dead

hi all,

just a sad little note. many of you saw the movie dark star at
yapc::pitt. dan o'bannon the author of that movie (and he also played
the sgt. pinback character) who also wrote alien, just passed away after
a long battle with crohn's disease. slashdot reported it here:
