If you're planning on traveling via public transportation, when you arrive at the airport, make sure to pick up a system map at the L platform; they're freely available.

If you want to figure things out in advance, go to http://www.transitchicago.com/maps/systemmaps.html and print out the chunks of map relevant to you.  Specifically for the Goose Island thing, you want this one: http://www.transitchicago.com/maps/maps/2006N.html.  The stop you want is the Addison one.  And, for the campus, you'll want http://www.transitchicago.com/maps/maps/2006C.html.

Interestingly, these maps don't show the new Pink Line which is starting up on Sunday; however, I highly doubt that the out-of-towners coming will have any use for that line.  Just don't be surprised if you see some maps that have a Pink Line on it and others that don't.
