I'd guess around $30-$50.
If you take the Blue Line ("L") to the Lake Transfer station, and go
upstairs to the Green Line, and take that to IIT, it should be about
$1.75. It should be rather safe at that time of evening. It is well lit,
and if you exit at the north end of the station, you'll be on campus.
Not that it's at all scary any way. It will probably take a little
longer than the cab ride. Of course, if you have a lot of stuff to
carry, then a cab is about the only choice. You might save money by
arranging for a limo.
