I usually just shell to my linux boxen. perlcritic is a perl module so that shouldn't a platform issue :) trac runs on my webserver (linux indeed). Professionally, I also use Textpad (I still find the ctrl-f to F5 switch nasty) but the target platform is actually Solaris. Half the time, I'm just using vi on the server (with 'set number' in my .vimrc).

When looking at the tools, I say you are using linux.
Unfortunately, I'm using Windows.

I also use subversion (with the tortoise interface), along with mySql (just
to bug microsoft ;-p).
For compinling I'm using the activestate development kit, and as editor I'm
using textpad. (Which has a cool searching function).
For now, that works for me :-)

Jonathan

>From: "Hendrik Van Belleghem" <Hendrik@LDL48.org>
>To: <vlaanderen@pm.org>
>Subject: [Vlaanderen] handy development tools
>Date: Wed, 6 Sep 2006 11:29:55 +0200
>
>Another question thrown into the discussion:
>
>which ubercool development tools do you use..besides things like perl, diff
>and patch ofcourse :)
>I'm addicted to subversion.. trac fills the web front end gap and adds a
>wiki and ticket system. I've been looking into svk (but only because clkao
>made me). For an editor, I pretty much use anything that works (so emacs is
>right outta there.. since that's not really an editor but a lisp
>interpreter). I've been using perlcritic a bit in the last weeks or so
>(including the PBP book). I should use perltidy but I'm still not a zealot.
>Eclipse is nice but IMHO a bit too much overhead
>
>Anything I'm missing?
>
>Hendrik

>_______________________________________________
>Vlaanderen mailing list
>Vlaanderen@pm.org
>http://mail.pm.org/mailman/listinfo/vlaanderen
