Hi all,

Ever since I've been involved in Perl Mongers, I've been trying to
register domains under the .pm registration. .pm is the Saint Pierre
and Miquelon Islands - a French territory just off the coast of
Newfoundland. Registrations are therefore controlled by AFNIC, the
French domain registry and, until now, they haven't been taking any
registrations at all.

But I've just read that they are opening registrations to all
residents of the EU (and Switzerland).

See
http://www.afnic.fr/en/about-afnic/news/general-news/5060/show/6-december-20
11-opening-to-europe-of-the-fr-and-other-tlds-operated-by-afnic-2.html

The domain company I use, Gandi, have some kind of pre-sale on and I
think I've just managed to buy london.pm (although I guess I could
lose it if someone with a better claim comes along).

But this opens up a whole range of possibilities. In particular Perl
Monger groups and Perl modules can now have their own domains.

Not sure what you're all going to do with this knowledge. But have fun :)

Dave...
