Hi,


This is the draft of the call for speakers for FOSDEM 2012. Please give
your comments, corrections and ideas regarding this texts. Specifically, I
would very much appreciate your input regarding dates, deadlines and
subjects of talks. Additionally, I am not too sure about the sponsoring
part. We can remove it altogether for the text.

THIS IS A DRAFT AND NOT THE DEFINTIVE CALL FOR SPEAKERS.

 Taking place in the beautiful city of Brussels (Belgium), FOSDEM is the
biggest free and non-commercial European event organized by and for the
community. Its goal is to provide Free and Open Source developers a place
to meet (see http://fosdem.org/2012/).

Two years ago, the Perl community was for the first time present at FOSDEM.
Our presence ?a booth? was very successful. It boosted our confidence and
the following year we came back with a bigger group, a bigger stand and
--for the first time-- a dev-room. The talks were varied, interesting...
and well attended.

 For this upcoming edition (2012), our dev-room request has been approved
(the stand request is still pending and we foresee no problems there). The
stand will be open throughout the weekend. The dev-room event will take
place Sunday February 5th 2012 , between 9 and 17h.

 We, the Perl community, are free to spent our time in the dev-room as we
see fit (of course respecting the frame of Free and Open Source software).
The room itself has 81 seats, WIFI and a VGA projector.

This environment, being a university classroom with raised seats, lends
itself perfectly for talks and classes.

 This is a wonderful opportunity to present your Perl project ?big and
small? or teach about subjects you care about. We are looking for a variety
of subjects on all levels: starter and advanced, generic and specialised,
core internals and CPAN. We have 8 hours time, so we have the flexibility
of using different time formats: e.g. lightnings talks of 20 minutes, more
classic talks of 40 minutes or longer, and classes of 1 hour (or longer,
depending on the complexity).

 Please don't doubt to send a proposal (information about yourself,
subject, short description and time needed) if you think you have the
material. If you have several subjects you are enthusiastic to talk about
please send alternative proposals. In the case more than one talk is not
selected, your proposal will help us when putting the schedule together and
even have ?backup? talks in case someone cancels.

 Please send your talk or class proposal before January 6th, 2012. We will
confirm the talk/course as soon as possible, with Saturday 2012-01-21 being
our own deadline to send our schedule to the FOSDEM organizer. <THIS NEEDS

Amsterdam.pm staat voor de "Amsterdamse Perl Mongers", een groep van
gebruikers van Perl. In tegenstelling tot wat de naam suggereert is
Amsterdam.pm niet beperkt tot alleen Amsterdam, maar functioneert ook
als de algemene Nederlandse gebruikersgroep. Iedereen die gelegenheid
heeft is welkom, ook al bent u al bij Alphen.pm, Nijmegen.pm,
Rotterdam.pm, Echt.pm, Exloo.pm, Groningen.pm of Wageningen.pm op
bezoek geweest.

Amsterdam.pm organiseert informele bijeenkomsten waar Perl gebruikers
kunnen samenkomen en informatie en gebruikservaringen met betrekking
tot Perl kunnen uitwisselen.

De bijeenkomsten vinden normaliter plaats op elke eerste dinsdag van
de maand. Zoals gebruikelijk voor dit soort bijeenkomsten is er ook
hier gelegenheid tot CAcert certificering en het uitwisselen van PGP
keys. De voertaal binnen Amsterdam.pm is in principe Nederlands, maar
indien nodig zal Engels worden gebruikt, b.v. om te communiceren met
niet-Nederlandssprekende aanwezigen.

De eerstvolgende bijeenkomst vindt plaats op dinsdag 6 december
20:00 tot 22:30 uur in "Toast!", Hof 38, 3811CK Amersfoort (zie
http://www.mijneigenbar.nl ). Er zijn veel parkeergarages
rondom het centrum, de meeste binnen vijf minuten lopen van deze
gelegenheid.

Kom je met de trein, dan is het zo'n 15 minuutjes wandelen. Ga het
station uit naar links. Na een groot kruispunt rechtdoor de stad in
(Molenstraat) Je ziet dan in de verte de toren van de St. Joriskerk,
naast Toast! Onder een gebouw door enz... totdat je op een gracht
stuit. Daar even naar rechts en het smalle bruggetje over... verder
weer rechtdoor. Twee straten verder is aan de rechtkant een plein
met de kerk. Aan de overkant van dat plein moet je zijn.

Vooraf is gereserveerd voor 10 tot 15 personen bij San Giorgio
(zie http://www.sangiorgio.nl ) Krommestraat 44, 3811CD Amersfoort.
Aanvang 18u30. Heel dicht bij parkeergarage "Stadhuisplein". Voor
wandelaars: de eerste straat na het smalle bruggetje links.

Amsterdam.pm stands for the Amsterdam Perl Mongers. We're basically a
Perl user group. Despite its name, it is not local to the Amsterdam
environment, but it welcomes Perl mongers from all over the
Netherlands.

Amsterdam.pm organises informal meetings where Perl users can meet,
and exchange information and experiences with regard to using Perl.

The meetings are normally held every first Tuesday of the month. As
conventional for these kind of meetings, there is also an opportunity
to get CAcert certified, and to exchange PGP keys. Although the
preferred language for communication is Dutch, English will be spoken
if necessary.

Kan ik hieruit besluiten dat het op een andere dag wel zou kunnen?

Ik zou stilletjes aan de call for speakers voor Fosdem willen
rondsturen, heeft iemand nog opmerkingen (eric heeft al een aantal
gegeven)?

Dit jaar zal voor niemand nog lukken vermoed...

Maar ik zou graag jullie hulp willen inroepen voor FOSDEM
presentatie-voorstellen mee te evalueren eenmaal dat ze met duizenden
tegelijkertijd toestromen :)
