I am currently reading the book called Linchpin by Seth Godin.
Subtitle is "Are you indispensable? How to drive your career and
create a remarkable future", when I came across a definition of PERL:

PERL = Percentage of Easily Replacable Laborers

Note that the book is not IT related. Apparently this is how larger
crowds see PERL.
