</div></div>I and several CPAN authors you may have heard of (mst, Marcus Ramberg)<br>
have banded together and formed a not-for-profit group based out of<br>
the UK (they let a silly American like me in as a board member...<br>
foolish brits) called Enlightened Perl.<br>

We're working towards marketing and showing that Perl is far from<br>
dead, and is in fact a brilliant language. We're doing this through<br>
marketing grants and pushing the agenda of an opinion (something the<br>
Perl community generally lacks, with TIMTOWTDI)<br>
<br>
Part of that opinion is recommending core modules to use, and backing<br>
them with intelligent reasoning as to why. Our current set consists<br>
most notably of Moose, Catalyst, DBIx::Class. The whole list is<br>
available from the <a href="http://www.enlightenedperl.org/" target="_blank">http://www.enlightenedperl.org/</a> website and also<br>
from the affiliated Task::Kensho module that is available on CPAN now.<br>
<br>
We also have several other facets that are cooking up but still under<br>
development, and anybody who wants to participate is more than<br>
welcome.<br>

Some of the inter-community projects are a blogging contest of sorts,<br>
to get people blogging and deliver both non-monetary and monetary<br>
awards. My personal pet project is what I'm dubbing 52 Weeks of Perl,<br>
with the goal of getting Perl mentioned 52 times throughout the year<br>
in a major publication (either digital or print).<br>

We have a lot of ideas, and need even more hands to volunteer. If you<br>
