From hvc at cpan.org Wed Aug 10 16:57:52 2005 From: hvc at cpan.org (Helen Cook) Date: Wed, 10 Aug 2005 16:57:52 -0700 Subject: [Van-pm] august meeting Message-ID: <20050810235752.GQ7334@soundwave.net> Hi Everyone, Hey, let's have a meeting in August. I've been off enjoying my summer and haven't arranged for a speaker yet. THIS IS YOUR CHANCE!! You have something to say: put it together and be heard. I've tentatively listed the date on the webpage http://vancouver.pm.org as Thurs, Aug 25th, 7:30pm. At the beginning of last meeting I suggested that we have some time at each meeting where a couple of people could spend 5 minutes talking about stuff they're done recently and either want to show off or get feedback on. This should be a way to start a discussion about the "best" way to do it, recruit help for a project, and so forth. I want to make this group a place where beginners and people new to Perl can feel welcome to present, and where it's easy for everyone to interact and connect. I hope this will be a successful way to do that. So we need: * one brave volunteer to talk for about 40 minutes on something * a couple of people to talk for a short amount of time about some other things(1) --h (1) I will be one of these people. Oh, because it used to get a crapload of spam and it was easier just to reject everything. I set it to accept; I agree it's better that way, but I hope it doesn't turn into a problem again. --h From gozer at ActiveState.com Wed Aug 17 13:47:32 2005 From: gozer at ActiveState.com (Philippe M. A whole hour slot sounds interesting! There is a variety of topics mod_perl-ish I could cover, but I think it would be best to try and feel the pulse of the Van.pm members and see what they want to hear about. Maybe start a thread on Van.pm about possible topics ? Possible ideas could be : - more Apache-Test stuff - Dynamic Apache configuration in Perl - All the available mod_perl hooks - CGI to mod_perl migration - ??? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Philippe M. Yeah, it's a topic that can be quite cool, and I'd like to talk about it ;-) Also, since Stas is most likely going to show up too, it's something we can easily _both_ talk about in one way or another..
