Message-ID: <20010410185640.C5874@engelschall.com> [Toulouse.pm] Dear French Perl Mongers, I am currently working on the next release (version 5.0) of my module "Date::Calc", which will be able to perform date calculations which take holidays into consideration. Therefore, I would like to provide calendar profiles for as many countries as possible, including France. I'm not sure if I implemented the French holidays in the correct way, or if anything is still missing. I'm not only interested in official holidays (work is suspended), but also in purely commemorative days (or days when schools close). Can you provide any insights, corrections or additions? (Please check my spelling also!) Any help is most welcome! Can you please also forward this message to your Perl Monger mailing lists, as well as any acquaintances or friends who might be able to help? Many thanks in advance! Here are the French holidays I have so far: $Profiles->{'FR'} = # France { "Nouvel An" => "01.01.", "Dimanche de P?ques" => "+0", "Lundi de P?ques" => "+1", "Jour du Travail" => "01.05.", "Armistice 1945" => "08.05.", "Ascension du Christ" => "+39", "Dimanche de Pentec?te" => "+49", "Lundi de Pentec?te" => "+50", "Jour de la R?publique" => "14.07.", "Ascension de Marie" => "15.08.", "Toussaint" => "01.11.", "Armistice 1918" => "11.11.", "No?l" => "25.12." }; Please also check whether a day is an official holiday, or just a commemorative day (nobody gets a day off), or a school holiday (only schools close). Message-ID: [Toulouse.pm] Well, I think you got most of France with this message... Here's the thing : your list looks pretty good, but the question is just how exhaustive you want it to be. One could make the argument that it would be nice to know that "Saint Anselme" => "21.04" (according to http://www.saints-fr.com/ConsultchronoSaint.asp?M=04 (I can't believe some lunatic actually spent the time to put that site together, but that's another story)) etc. etc. For instance "31.12" => "Saint Sylvestre" is a cultural reference that everyone in France understands. But maybe this functionality belongs in Date::Saint::Patron::French ... Message-ID: [Toulouse.pm] Steffen, A few comments: I've never heard of "Jour de la R?publique" but "F?te Nationale". "Ascension du Christ" is usually called "Ascension" whereas "Ascension de Marie" becomes "Assomption". May 1st is called "F?te du Travail" i.s.o "Jour du Travail". I think you can drop "Dimanche de " for "P?ques" and "Pentec?te". Should the 19th of March be included? It's not a bank holiday but the anniversary of the end the war in Algeria (Evian Agreement, 19.03.1962) and sometimes remembered of by some mayors. I don't how it should be called either, for some still dare not call the events in Algeria a war. So: $Profiles->{'FR'} = # France { "Nouvel An" => "01.01.", "P?ques" => "+0", "Lundi de P?ques" => "+1", "F?te du Travail" => "01.05.", "Armistice 1945" => "08.05.", "Ascension" => "+39", "Pentec?te" => "+49", "Lundi de Pentec?te" => "+50", "F?te Nationale" => "14.07.", "Assomption" => "15.08.", "Toussaint" => "01.11.", "Armistice 1918" => "11.11.", "No?l" => "25.12." }; HTH. --Cedric > -----Original Message----- > From: Steffen Beyer [mailto:sb@engelschall.com] > Sent: Tuesday, April 10, 2001 6:57 PM > To: Paris Perl Mongers; Paris Perl Mongers; Toulouse Perl Mongers; > Toulouse Perl Mongers; Luberon Perl Mongers; Luberon Perl Mongers; > Marseille Perl Mongers > Cc: Leon Brocard > Subject: Can you help verify french holidays for Date::Calc? > > > Dear French Perl Mongers, > > I am currently working on the next release (version 5.0) of my module > "Date::Calc", which will be able to perform date calculations which > take holidays into consideration. > > Therefore, I would like to provide calendar profiles for as > many countries > as possible, including France. > > I'm not sure if I implemented the French holidays in the correct way, > or if anything is still missing. > > I'm not only interested in official holidays (work is suspended), but > also in purely commemorative days (or days when schools close). > > Can you provide any insights, corrections or additions? > (Please check my spelling also!) > > Any help is most welcome! > > Can you please also forward this message to your Perl Monger > mailing lists, > as well as any acquaintances or friends who might be able to help? > > Many thanks in advance! > > Here are the French holidays I have so far: > > $Profiles->{'FR'} = # France > { > "Nouvel An" => "01.01.", > "Dimanche de P?ques" => "+0", > "Lundi de P?ques" => "+1", > "Jour du Travail" => "01.05.", > "Armistice 1945" => "08.05.", > "Ascension du Christ" => "+39", > "Dimanche de Pentec?te" => "+49", > "Lundi de Pentec?te" => "+50", > "Jour de la R?publique" => "14.07.", > "Ascension de Marie" => "15.08.", > "Toussaint" => "01.11.", > "Armistice 1918" => "11.11.", > "No?l" => "25.12." > }; > > Please also check whether a day is an official holiday, or > just a commemorative day (nobody gets a day off), or a school > holiday (only schools close). > > Again, many thanks in advance for your precious help! > > Best regards, > -- > Steffen Beyer > http://www.engelschall.com/u/sb/whoami/ (Who am I) > http://www.engelschall.com/u/sb/gallery/ (Fotos Brasil, USA, ...) > http://www.engelschall.com/u/sb/download/ (Free Perl and > C Software) > - > Paris Perl Mongueu(r|se)s => http://paris.pm.org/mail.html > From oulala at chez.com Wed Apr 11 04:01:36 2001 From: oulala at chez.com (Thierry B.)
