Hi Folks,

The idea for tomorrow's meeting is to make it a bit of a hackathon as well as an introduction to some new (to some of us) toys. The proposal for the reworking of the TPM web site is:

1) Rewrite the site as a Dancer app which can be exported to static files via the "wallflower" script which comes with Dancer
2) Incorporate Bootstrap as a CSS framework
3) Make use of "less"
4) Rethinking the TPM logo (Mark Jubenville has some ideas for this)
5) Adding an RSS feed for meeting dates/times
6) Adding a page with a list of the local mongers as well as pertinent links to find them online
7) Perhaps a page to summarize job postings and/or local companies who employ perlers

If you have a laptop (or access to one), please bring it.

We'll be forking the app from github and deploying it locally so you may want to:

1) update your minicpan (if you have one)
2) update your perl modules:
"cpan-outdated | cpanm"
3) install dancer: "cpanm Dancer"
4) read up on Dancer: https://metacpan.org/module/Dancer::Introduction
5) read up on Bootstrap: http://twitter.github.com/bootstrap/
6) read up on less: http://lesscss.org/
7) create a github account if you don't already have one
8) email me with your github username if you're not already in the Freshwater::Perl github org

So, that's perhaps a tall order. If you're motivated, please do have a look at the sites mentioned above. If you can't find the time before the meeting, that's OK too, but the github account would be helpful. I figure we can have a short discussion to get started and then break into groups. Those without machines can mass pair program with
someone who is hooked up to the projector or just pair up with someone of their choosing. The object, at the end of the meeting, would be to have a workable prototype of the site online as well as to get more familiar with some neat tools in the process.

There's still the question of connectivity. Should we have someone bring a wireless router so that we can create a network that we're all able to access? Are there ethernet connections in the rooms? It'll be much harder to work if we can't get everyone online.

Olaf
--
Olaf Alders
olaf@vilerichard.com

http://vilerichard.com -- folk rock
http://twitter.com/vilerichard
<a href="http://cdbaby.com/cd/vilerichard"
